Why you should consider a Public Speaking Course.
Late last year, I enrolled in a public speaking course and that was probably one of the best spontaneous decision i have made in the past. Basically, it wasn’t planned for. I got bored and needed something to keep me busy. The first public speaking session had us genuinely answering one question. Would you rather express yourself by writing or speaking publicly? As you might have already imagined, majority of the students said they express themselves better by writing as against speaking publicly. There were lots of excuses ranging from I don’t need public speaking in my job or I work behind the camera or I work as an editor…

Achieving a Proper Work – Life Balance.
If you were asked to create a day between Saturday and Sunday, what will you call it? Still thinking? Honestly, there are times when I have said the weekend is too short and wished for a day in between Saturday and Sunday. We know for a fact that there will always be seven days in a week and I am sure it will never change. Since that’s the harsh reality, we have no choice but to face every new week and maybe play it out in the same old routine…..then on sunday night, we wish there was another day in between Saturday and Sunday. Isn’t it funny that sunday night…

I am sorry….not sorry
Hi hi It’s raining this morning and I like…. How do you feel when it rains? If you haven’t read ‘Can you stand the rain?, you definitely should. Did you have a good week? Mine turned out nice except for one ‘not so good’ experience. So i recently had an encounter that suddenly threw me off track. I was hurt but a few tears and venting to the right person got me back on track. Bottom line, I finally got an apology but then…is that it? Well, i am not asking for chocolates and roses (which isn’t a bad idea by the way) to go with an apology but personally,…

Can you stand the rain?
and I’m asking literally….. If you are anything close to me, then you are already humming to New Edition’ s ‘Can you stand the rain’. I love songs that kind of ‘speak to your soul’ (is that a weird description?)…. but I totally fell in love with this song again in the movie ‘The Best Man Holiday’. That was my best movie for a long time. Talking about rain, do you like the rainy season? It’s been raining a lot in Lagos (it’s the season so there’s no suprise at all) and I think it’s beginning to tell on my usual active self. For instance, I always want to be…

8 Ways to literally have a ‘Good Morning’.
It’s no longer news that while we love the weekends, a lot of us actually dread mornings… especially monday morning. Well, it’s a beautiful monday morning and I’m glad I’m not grumpy. I think mondays or mornings are generally not that bad. Like, it’s all in your mindset and what you have planned out for the day. Overtime, I’ve realised that I can control how i want to feel in the mornings. This is actually very important because the way you start your morning sets the pace for other activities. Sometimes, you find a balance at mid day, other times the day just goes downhill….and you’re left wondering what you…

How to keep busy when the server goes Kaput!
Ever imagined getting to your place of work and then somehow hours into day, the server goes Kaput…. like completely unserviceable and there’s no immediate remedy? Everything you planned to do on your computer will have to wait and you’re thinking….what next? Use the opportunity to run errands outside the office (No, you already asked to be excused for 30minutes yesterday). Use your phone and social media apps (No again, You’ll look unserious if anyone {read that as the boss} walks in on you more than twice still having your phone in hand). Go over to your colleagues office and have a chat (Nah..doesn’t look good either..even if you do,…

6 Top Distractions: How to reduce its negative effect.
The first half of 2017 is over…..like…literally OVER. Have you taken a stock count? How did you fare? At the beginning of the year, we had a lot of goals lined out and as I always advocate, I’m hoping we’ve been taking baby steps to achieve one goal at a time. We may not have achieved everything yet due to several reasons and as the start of the second half is just hours away, I am sure we are all gearing up to meet the remaining goals. Now, those ‘several reasons’ are unknown to me but one reason I’m certain happens to the best of us is DISTRACTION. If you…

Basic tips to handle 'being taken for granted'.
A public holiday on a monday is definitely bliss….Isn’t it? Here’s wishing all my muslims readers a Happy Eid el Fitr. Even though I’m not a Muslim, I get to enjoy the day off work today. Yesterday, I watched an episode of Judge Judy that re-confirmed there are people who can be so ungrateful regardless of how nice you are to them. So, a mother of 4 was sent to jail and needed to be bailed. She asked her oldest daughter to call a cousin to help sort her bail. However, the daughter mistakenly called an acquaintance of her mum who bears the same name as the supposed cousin. The…

3 Habits Of A Go-Getter
Amidst the bustle from the family event last week and of course unsteady and crappy network, I was still able to catch the news about Kechi, a Nigerian participating in America’s Got Talent. I immediately remembered Kechi as a plane crash survivor from an ill-fated Sosoliso flight back in 2005 (that ended the life of about 107 people). A really long time but you never forget a plane crash survivor as it’s a very rare situation…..surviving a plane crash that is. Kechi’s story is one that will motivate anyone as she did not allow her predicament deter her from pursuing her dreams. She survived the crash with scars but went…

107 Reasons To Celebrate Life
It was such an emotional day. We laid my maternal grandpa to rest today and it was a roller coaster of emotions. Tears because he was such a kind heart and will be missed greatly. Happy because he lived an amazing 107 years on earth. It was more like a celebration of his well spent life than lamenting over a loved one passing on. A lot of people gathered (over a thousand five hundred) to celebrate his awesomeness and i am totally grateful to God it was a success. I had taken a quick nap earlier..had to wake up to write this post for Friday. I know the title says…
